Samsung SmartThings and CommScope RUCKUS to Empower Real Estate Developers and Tenants with Next£­Generation Network Technology

As home devices such as alarm systems, thermostats, and air conditioners become increasingly interconnected, a new generation of residents expects to create a technology-enabled, customized environmental experience at home to enhance value and convenience. In order to meet the needs of residents for such an ecosystem, Samsung SmartThings and CommScope RUCKUS are working together to help real estate developers and building owners provide residents with a more complete living experience.

Through this partnership, RUCKUS' portfolio of converged Wi-Fi 6 and Internet of Things (IoT) access points will gain Works as a SmartThings Hub (WASH) capabilities, enabling homeowners to upgrade their residential buildings into smart homes, and Residents can connect to thousands of devices from hundreds of brands. In the future, this integration will also be compatible with the Matter protocol, enabling consumers' smart home devices to work together reliably for true interoperability. The SmartThings app will also work with the RUCKUS IoT suite, providing builders and property managers with future-proof solutions built on a single ecosystem.

SmartThings and CommScope RUCKUS have teamed up with architectural development firm Picerne Real Estate Group to create a connected experience by incorporating integrated technology directly into its new apartment development. The apartments in this project will provide residents with a truly connected experience, allowing them to control their Samsung smart appliances through the SmartThings app, such as adjusting the heating, air conditioning or turning on smart lights.

Apart from residents, property managers and maintenance personnel also benefit from the technology. Picerne Real Estate Group says property managers can centrally adjust thermostats in vacant apartments through the SmartThings app, saving up to 20 percent on electricity consumption. At the same time, they can automate routine tasks. For example, property managers can control the smart door locks in each apartment through the SmartThings app, allowing maintenance personnel to quickly and efficiently complete repair orders, ultimately improving work efficiency and occupant satisfaction.
