2022/04/14 10:56:39

NXP Semiconductors N.V. (Nasdaq: NXPI) announces a new addition to the EdgeLock secure authentication chip family that combines flexibility, adaptability and versatility to enable integration in a variety of IoT ecosystems Security is guaranteed in multiple standards of the system. The new EdgeLock A5000 Scalable Solution Security Certification is suitable for providing security certification for applications where security is critical throughout the entire lifecycle, including many IoT use cases, as well as smart city infrastructure and connected industrial equipment.

Product Importance

In the IoT ecosystem, security certification plays an important role, including verifying device identity during secure communication, assessing whether data comes from a trusted source, checking the authenticity of product sub-components to ensure overall system integrity, product security and performance, or to verify the authenticity of a product or component. The EdgeLock A5000 secure authentication chip optimizes security authentication throughout the device lifecycle, reduces RD effort, simplifies manufacturing and supply chain logistics, and adheres to advanced security and ecosystem standards.

More details

Christian Lackner, Senior Director of IoT Security and Smart Product Security Certification at NXP, said: ˇ°Securing devices in the IoT ecosystem requires security certification, but at the same time it can be challenging. The EdgeLock A5000 enables secure devices to development is easier and more scalable, and developers can focus more on creating differentiated IoT solutions.ˇ±

Designed to meet the growing demand for security in security authentication applications, the EdgeLock security authentication chip family is a further expansion of NXPs EdgeLock security chip family for those requiring multi-tenant security, updateability and cryptographic agility more complex ecosystems. The newly launched EdgeLock A5000 security authentication chip provides high security and is certified by the common standard EAL6+ AVA_VAN.5 (operating system level) to support the security authentication mechanism. The EdgeLock A5000 turnkey solution is plug-and-play and can be used with any type of microcontroller, microprocessor or connectivity platform such as a Wi-Fi SoC.

The EdgeLock A5000 supports a wide temperature range (-40 to +105C) and can be used in applications such as industrial equipment, smart city infrastructure components or appliances. The EdgeLock A5000 comes with dedicated application guides and software examples for various use cases such as device security authentication, cloud access, integration into the Matter smart home ecosystem, smart meters, electric vehicle charging, Qi 1.3 wireless charging security authentication, gaming, and more. This allows developers to focus on the specific application implementation they need, while the solution is easily scalable for different products in different ecosystems.

Additionally, with NXP's EdgeLock 2GO security infrastructure and services, developers do not need to build complex and costly key management infrastructure to handle device credentials. Security infrastructure and services include EdgeLock 2GO Custom for creating custom ICs to support complex configurations or to comply with Qi 1.3 and Matter standards, and EdgeLock 2GO Managed for managing credentials and multiple services throughout the device lifecycle, such as Credential rotation.
