Enhance the five senses of human beings, and Intel's five "super technological forces" release more powerful new possibilities

On January 16, the annual meeting of the 2023 World Economic Forum (Davos Forum) was held in the Swiss town of Davos, and Intel CEO Pat Kissinger was invited to participate in the forum. Pat Kissinger pointed out that in today's unstoppable global digital process, the five "super technological forces" including computing, connectivity, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, sensing and perception have built a bridge from the analog era to the digital era, and have profoundly shaped the way we experience the world. As "super technological forces" become increasingly ubiquitous, they are releasing more powerful new possibilities.

Pat Kissinger made the following interpretation of the five "super technological forces":

1. Calculation: Everything is equivalent to a computer. The invention of the 4004 chip fundamentally ushered in the leaping development of the modern computing world. Today, 50 years after the birth of the 4004 chip, almost everything we interact with is "intelligent" and has the ability to calculate. Today, computing defines the way people experience the world.

2. Connection: everyone and everything are connected. Wi-Fi is the key technology of wireless, enabling people to move freely when using the network. 5G and 6G will further promote the establishment of a safe and reliable connection between everyone and everything.

3. Infrastructure: Intel is creating a dynamic and reliable path for data storage and interconnection computing. Take the delivery of visual experience as an example, such as streaming media services, cloud games and other visual loads. By combining the unlimited scale and capacity of the cloud with the unlimited coverage of the intelligent edge, the demand for lower latency and higher bandwidth can be met at the same time.

4. AI: With ubiquitous intelligence, AI transforms infinite data into practical insights. Data and calculation enable AI algorithms to predict and create more accurately. For example, software that can write intelligent software on a large scale.

5. Sensing and perception: cooperation is crucial for both human beings and technologies created by human beings. As a super technological force, sensing and perception are bringing together education, research institutions and enterprises to find ways to make human life better.

At the same time, Pat Kissinger also emphasized that the combination of the five super technological forces enables Intel to enhance and simulate the five senses of human beings (vision, hearing, smell, taste and touch), thus benefiting everyone on the earth and continuously promoting the progress of human society. For example, researchers at the University of Georgia in the United States developed a voice-controlled backpack Mira with AI technology using Intel's AI software to help blind or amblyopic patients find their way independently; Many enterprises are currently exploring the further connection between cochlear implants and neural networks to distinguish voice from noise and help more people hear higher-quality sound. In addition, using AI-driven machine translation technology, OmniBridge is eliminating the communication barriers of people who use sign language to conduct real-time translation; Cornell University is cooperating with the Neuromimetic Computing Group of Intel Research Institute to develop algorithms to assist the research of olfactory neurophysiologists, including measuring the EEG activity in the brain of animals when they smell odor; Researchers at the National University of Singapore have been studying the possibility of transmitting virtual food and drink flavors through digital simulators since 2013; Researchers in the UK are exploring 3D printing skin and simulating touch. The tactile robot research team of Bristol Robotics Laboratory has designed a webcam installed in a soft 3D printing fingertip to imitate the tactile receptors of human fingertips.

At a time when technology is becoming more and more important to all aspects of human survival, each of the five "super technological forces" is built on the basis of other super technological forces and is also strengthening each other, thus forming a powerful cycle to continuously improve influence and accelerate technological innovation, exploration and growth.
