1. Achieves Three Historic Breakthroughs! Domestic First 16,000 TEU Methanol Dual-Fuel Container Ship Delivered

The "COSCO Shipping Yangpu", China's first domestically built 16,000 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit) methanol dual-fuel container ship, was delivered on Changxing Island, Shanghai. The delivery of this vessel realizes three historic breakthroughs in the construction of large methanol dual-fuel container ships: "the first order from a domestic shipowner, the first delivery by a domestic shipyard, and the first practical application of a domestic methanol main engine on a real ship".

The ship has an overall length of 366 meters and a molded width of 51 meters, with a maximum container capacity of 16,136 TEUs. Its core technological innovations run through the entire industrial chain. For example, it is equipped with an 11,000-cubic-meter super-large methanol storage tank, supporting one-way navigation from the Far East to the U.S. East Coast without mid-course refueling; it is fitted with the first domestic set of methanol dual-fuel main engines, and for the first time applies methanol generator sets and methanol dual-fuel marine boilers on domestic container ships. The dual-fuel system can freely switch fuel modes according to route requirements, with operational flexibility and stability reaching the international top level.

2. Two Solar System Astrophysical Telescopes Commence Construction in China

The 4.2-meter ground-based special astrometric telescope and 2.5-meter multi-terminal general telescope, led by the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, have started construction at the Qinghai Lenghu Astronomical Observation Base.

The main scientific objectives of these two telescopes are both dedicated to observing solar system objects, complementing each other in observational techniques to achieve high-precision "positioning" of solar system bodies.

Upon completion, the two telescopes will mark a major breakthrough in China's astronomical field, forming an internationally advanced ground-based optical precision observation system. This will realize a significant leap in China's precision astrometric observation capabilities, providing strong high-precision observation support for China's astronomical observational research and the construction of a space power.

3. Generating Electricity with Air: The "Super Power Bank" in Salt Caverns

At the foot of Mount Tai, a "super power bank" that generates electricity using air is taking shape. This is the "Nengchu-1" Shandong Tai'an 350 MW compressed air energy storage (CAES) innovation demonstration project, the world's largest single-unit power CAES plant under construction.

The Tai'an CAES plant is invested and built by China Energy Engineering Digital Technology Group (a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Group). The first phase of the project involves constructing a 350 MW salt cavern-type non-combustion compressed air energy storage power station, with an annual power generation of 460 million kWh—equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 200,000 households.

4. Huawei Cloud Launches Pangu Large Model 5.5, Announces New Generation of Ascend AI Cloud Services

Recently, the Huawei Developers Conference 2025 (HDC 2025) kicked off at the Dongguan Basketball Center. At the conference, Huawei comprehensively shared the latest technological innovation achievements in HarmonyOS, Ascend AI cloud services, Pangu large model and other fields.

In the keynote speech, Zhang Ping'an, Executive Director of Huawei and CEO of Huawei Cloud Computing, announced the full launch of the new generation of Ascend AI cloud services based on the CloudMatrix 384 super node, providing surging computing power for large model applications. He also announced the official release of Pangu Large Model 5.5, with comprehensive upgrades to the five basic models of natural language processing (NLP), computer vision (CV), multimodal, prediction, and scientific computing. Meanwhile, Zhang Ping'an shared the rich innovative applications and implementation practices of the Pangu large model in agriculture, industry, scientific research and other fields, continuing to deeply solve problems in various industries.

5. Industry's First 5G-A Embodied Intelligence Robot Unveiled

At the 2025 World Mobile Congress held in Shanghai, Leju Robotics, in collaboration with China Mobile and Huawei, released the industry's first 5G-A embodied intelligence robot "Kuafu", marking the first deep integration of 5G-A technology in the field of humanoid robots. With the characteristics of low latency and high bandwidth, 5G-A enables humanoid robots to remotely, real-timely, and autonomously complete complex tasks in high-concurrency scenarios.
